Description
A high quality precision etched stainless steel measuring gauge designed to quickly and easily determine the correct size of an NPT ( National Pipe Taper ) pipe or fitting. Pipe sizes can be confusing even for the experienced user. Pipe size is not the actual outside or inside diameter of the pipe but is the industry accepted designation. For example, a 3/4" pipe size has an actual outside diameter of 1.05".
This gauge incorporates two measuring scales which are correctly calibrated to be used to measure the actual pipe or fitting and the pipe size may be read directly from the gauge. One measuring scale is used to measure the outside diameter of a male NPT thread on a pipe or fitting and the other is used to measure the internal diameter of a female NPT thread on a fitting. Pipe and Fitting sizes from 1/16" to 3 1/2" may be measured.
The use of this gauge eliminates the guesswork in determing pipe and fitting sizes and can eliminate costly errors due to sizing mistakes. Ideal for use in all areas where pipe or fittings are used including maintenance, plumbing, inventory, specifying, construction, purchasing, etc..
The reverse side of the gauge features a reference chart and table which lists the actual industry designated outside diameters of pipes for specific sizes and the appropriate ' Drill and Tap Sizes' for each pipe size. Number of threads per inch (TPI) is also listed. Included in the reference chart are pipe sizes from 1/8" to 3 1/2".
This is a “must have" item for anyone who uses pipe.
The gauge is manufactured from stainless steel for long life and has a convenient 1/4" (6.35mm) diameter hang hole. The gauge is 1" (25.4mm) wide, 0.020" (0.5mm) thick and the overall length is 6" (152.4mm).
